Barb and Feathers

Barb wire defence
Fails when the Magpies lay claim
Warbling a new day

Squealing fat rat
Allured by fruit sweet pickings
Unaware baring k9’s

The River

Dawn has broken
and the river wakes
mist hovers above the water as if sleepily exhaling
the peaceful force of the incoming tide
pushes the night further and further away from view
a whisper of a crisp air
spreads a  light blush of pink across my face
I breath in the moment
hearing the sound of water gently rolling
the warmth of the morning sun dancing across the river
my senses never more alive
I commit to memory the feeling
of complete freedom
void of human expectations
money could never buy
no factory could ever produce
the feeling of being part of a universal whole
the sensory connection with
air, water, land and sun
this is living.

Morning Revelry (haiku)

Before dawn breaks
chorus of birds chattering
morning revelry

Tempest (haiku)

Wind lashing the sea

dark sky its brooding mood swelling

craving tempest force

The Old Sea (haiku)

Down by the water

listening to the old sea

sharing its wisdom

Wind Imperfect (haiku)

(Wabi-sabi inspired)

Wind noisy pushy
intruding without a grace
and ingenuous

Grey Sky (haiku)

Grey sky releases
Soaking rain falls quietly
Casting a still spell

Black Bird (haiku)

Small sleek black bird darts

Orange eyes captivate

Long beak lures, death
